The Central Regional Minister Hon. Mrs. Justina Marigold Assan has appealed to Organized Labour Unions to try and resolve all labour related disputes in a friendly manner through negotiations, constructive dialogues so as to ensure peaceful industrial atmosphere in the country.
Hon. Marigold Assan made this statement at this year’s commemoration of the 2022 May Day Celebration in Cape Coast, themed, ” Protecting Jobs and Income in the era of COVID- 19 “.She noted that Government in the face of these hard times did not lay off a single worker in the Public Sector and continued to pay their salaries to date.
The Regional Minister added that with the introduction of pragmatic social intervention programmes like Ghana Care, “Obatanpa”, programmes which she indicated was an unprecedented, bold and audacious GHC10 billion post COVID programme would support the private sector to expand and create wealth and jobs for the people.
Hon. Mrs. Assan encouraged all Labour Unions and all workers from both the private sectors to ensure that their employees pay their SSNIT contributions promptly and regularly, especially the Tier 3 which she advised is good for pension benefits.
She reiterated the need for all workers to heed to the advice in order to be distant from hardship and frustration. Mrs. Assan assured workers that government would continue to do everything possible to motivate the working people in the country by providing needed logistics and better conditions of service.
