The Regional Coordinating Council of the Central Region under the Hon. Regional Minister Mrs. Justina Marigold Assan has held its first Regional Council Meeting for the year 2022.
In her welcome address, Mrs. Assan thanked the guests for attending and to deliberate and take decisions to transform the region.
She thanked all stakeholders present at the meeting for their continuous support of programs and projects which were initiated in her tenure of office.
She further spoke about how far the region had grown over the years from the 4th poorest region to the 4th richest region in the country.
She also spoke about the just ended trade, tourism and investment fair and announced the intentions of the RCC together with UCC Business school to organize a youth business forum to create awareness as well as introduce them to business opportunities in the region.
The Regional Minister also briefed the guests on the progress of the development strategy for the region and declared the intention to meet with members of parliament from both political divide in the region and other personalities for a working session to discuss the transformation agenda and other development challenges.
She however made known to the audience about the 15 member delegation that went to South Korea on the rice value chain projects by KOICA and emphasized the need to emulate their progressive example to make Central Region a hub in growing rice in the country.
The minister further encouraged all to put in their effort to make the environment in order to promote the region.
Mrs. Assan also informed members about the upcoming National Festival of Arts and Culture (NAFAC) which is slated to begin from 4th to 11th November,2022.
She finally announced the regional tour by the President of the Republic, H. E Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo from the 2nd to 3rd of September,2022 which coincides with the Fetu Afahye Festival.
She further entreated all MMDAs to show greater leadership during his visit to ensure that his stay would be a pleasant one.
