1st July 2023, starts the Close Season period of Fishing for one month in the Central Region of Ghana.

The Sector Minister in charge of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson speaking at the commemoration ceremony to close the season urged the fishermen and fisherfolks to adhere to the directives of the ministry to avoid the use of bad methods of fishing hindering the production of fishing activities in the country.

Hon. Hawa Koomson said, “very soon Ghana will export fishes to create revenue and premix fuel will in abundance for supply to all coastal areas in the country”.

The Central Regional Minister, Hon. Mrs. Justina Marigold Assan in a statement, advised the fishermen to embrace the close season period to repair and work on their canoes, nets and other fishing equipment to prepare well for the open season.

Libation and a symbol of lock were performed at the Sea shore to mark the one month closure of fishing.
