The Hon. Regional Minister of Central Region, visits Cape Coast Metropolitan Hospital on Cholera Outbreak.
On the 14th of Feb 2025, the Hon. Regional Minister, Hon. Eduamoah Ekow Panyin Okyere together with the Ag. Regional Co-ordinating Director of Central Regional Co-ordinating Council (CRCC), The Metropolitan Co-ordinating Director of Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly (CCMA) and other management members visited the Cape Coast Metro. Hospital regarding the outbreak of Cholera in the region.
According to reports from the hospital’s authorities, the disease has taken 4 lives and 16 of the Cholera patients are on admission and responding to treatment.
The Metro. Co-ordinating Director, Mr Asumah Adam Braimah informed the Hon. Regional Minister and his team about the water shortage in Cape Coast and its surrounding communities which is contributing to the spread of the disease in the sense that people tend to have no water to wash their hands after visiting the lavatory.
In the address of the Regional Minister, Hon. Eduamoah appreciated the efforts of the health officers towards fighting the outbreak. He also informed the Metro. Co-ordinating Director to use the assembly’s water tankers to supply water to communities that are facing water challenges.
Hon. Eduamoah also gave his assurance to help intensify community awareness and sensitization to concientize the general public on the disease’s preventive measures.
