The Regional Planning Co-ordinating Committee- convened its much-anticipated meeting with heads of Departments and Agencies.
The meeting began with an address from the Office of the Regional Co-ordinating Council (CRCC) Ag. Regional Co-ordinating Director, Mr. Bless Kwame Darkey. With poise and vision, he highlighted the significance of regional planning as a tool for socio economic transformation.
He emphasized the need for coordinated efforts among all sectors and reminded participants of their role as agents of change. “This meeting is not just a routine exercise also planning strategies to be in earnest in order to aid the transitional process for the ensuing year,” he stated.
The Ag. Regional Co-ordinating Director added that it was an opportunity to shape the future of the region’s development goals for the next four years. He then urged Departments and Agencies to try and submit their end of year reports on time.
He assured the Departments and Agencies of the RCCs commitment to collaborate and come back with more preparedness for the goals ahead of 2025. Mr. Darkey wished everyone present a Merry Christmas and prosperous year ahead.
Mr. Yunus Alhasan from the Ghana Enterprise Agency took the floor to do a presentation. His presentation focused on the role of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in driving economic growth. He unveiled strategic programs aimed at supporting local entrepreneurs and discussed ways to create a conducive environment for business innovation. Mr Alhassan’s words resonated deeply, as he passionately urged stakeholders to invest in the entrepreneurial spirit of the region.
Also was a representative from the Ghana Statistical Service who presented. His presentation was both enlightening and thought-provoking as he shared data-driven insights into the region’s performance. He highlighted key metrics on population trends, economic growth, and infrastructural needs. “Numbers don’t just tell a story; they guide our decisions,” he remarked. He also pointed out areas requiring urgent attention, such as unemployment and disparities in resource allocation, urging stakeholders to leverage the data for targeted interventions.
A representative from the Agricultural Sector followed with an inspiring presentation on enhancing food security and promoting sustainable farming practices. The discussion underscored the sector’s role as the backbone of the local economy. The representative called for strengthened partnerships between farmers, policymakers, and financial institutions to ensure agricultural development and resilience against climate change.
The meeting concluded with closing remarks from Mr. Theophilus Sosu from the Regional Economic Planning Unit who expressed his gratitude to all speakers and participants. “This meeting has been rich with ideas and inspiration. Let us carry the momentum forward and transform these plans into reality in the ensuing years,” he urged.
